Keep in mind fellas----GM oil filters are made by Wix.   Remember also that 
Black is the cheapest color paint there is.  Remember Ford saying "You can 
have any color model T you want, as long as it's black?"
Remember they put the cheapest stuff they can on the car to get it out the 
door.  Say Wix told them----for your assembly line filters, you can save 1/8 
of a cent by having them in flat black instead of blue, or white.   And that 
year, GM is going to buy about 10 million filters for the production runs in 
all the divisions.  Saving one penny on every 8 filters----when you're 
buying in the millions, saves thousands.    Economies in scale.   That's why 
OEM batteries usually don't last but 2-3 years, and OEM tires (like the ones 
in my new 05 F-150), rated for 40,000 miles were smooth as a baby's butt at 
39,000.
