[SCG] Glove Box Door Question

I have two 1961 Monza glovebox doors, one of which has intentions for cups on the back whereas the other is flat as shown in the attached picture.  I've looked at some other early model glovebox doors (except 1960) and they all have flat backs.  Does anyone know why one has the cup intentions?  Was this an option or a discontinued feature?
