Terry,

Thanks for putting this out there. I will give my input on the event. First
off, I did speak to Tony and I believe we may have broken even or VERY close
to it. I certainly don't want people thinking we lost money. Remember,
South Florida Corvairs was selling drinks and we did a 50 /50. Both of which
brought in some decent money.

 1) There should be one person in charge of the event and everyone should
 know who it is.

True. However, since WE PAID GCA (gulf coast auto) $1500 I think everyone
was under the assumption we were going to be led around by the hand for the
weekend. I think once we figured out they were there to provide the
facility, timing equipment and lunch only, and the rest was up to us, I think
we did pretty good.

In the future I don't think we will have the confusion as we may not have the
need to pay anyone to do it in the future.

 2) After the first of April, hotel room rates drop about $30/night since
 snowbird season is over.

True, but by then, our out of town folks no longer have cabin fever and
decide to stay home. Of course the prices depend on location, location
location.

 3) It takes more than 2 months to set up a new event.

Yes and no. There was lots of confusion as we were trying to do two things
at once. Establish SECC and host this event. Once we settled down to the
event itself we did okay.

 4) Advertise, Advertise, Advertise

Yes, we did advertise, but not enough to my liking. We need more lead time
for Communique posting. I'm not necessarily in favor of paid advertising.
Word of mouth is the best.

 5) There should be a written schedule

Again, refer to #1. I think everyone just assumed we were going to be told
what to do and when to do it.

 6) Course workers should know who they are and when to report where.

I refer to #1 again.

Bottom line this was a first time event and over 70% of the attendees had
never done this before. With that being said, I think we did very well and
everyone left happy and that is the most important.
