Titus,

Glad to hear your club is interested in joining up with the rest of us in the soon to be SECC.

Back in February when we all met in Sarasota and then again in March in the Tampa area we agreed this was a sort notice situation and we just basically wanted to get the event up and running.

So, we discussed how to set up SECC with Bob Marlow and Brian O'Neil. We have the bylaws (for lack of a better word) concerning how NECC was set up. At the time we went ahead and had an election to make sure we had "butts in seats" for the event. It was also decided that we would organize better at a later date.

However, in the meantime we have Officers. President is Javier Brito, Secretary was Marylou Giesler, who resigned due to personal reason, so I was appointed in her place, and Treasurer is Tony Fiore. We lucked out that our Convention Raffle Car bank account was never closed out so we were able to reactivate that account. Tony Fiore and myself are signers on this account. I'm not sure who VP is, but I believe Ed Meadows rings a bell.

I may have missed a few and if I did, my apologies.

To address your comment about in your discussions with other Clubs / Club President's not knowing anything about SECC, I will disagree with you here. Marylou Geisler is President of Sun Coast, and she was at both meetings as were several others from her club. Nature Coast Corvairs was there full force at both meetings as well, including John Saxe, their President. Gene, Ed and myself were the representatives from CFC. Ed Meadows was elected back over a year ago to look into it and then he asked Gene and I to help out. South Florida Corvairs due to distance were unable to attend the meetings, but John & Gail Policella were there in fact, they sold drinks and gave all the profits to SECC in liue of money from their treasury. Gulf Coast was well represented and their President was there as well. The only club not represented was WFCC, which is obvious due to the distance, however Ed Lindsey was well informed and was monitoring the emails and commented here and there.

After the second meeting in Tampa, Sun Coast and Nature Coast respectfully backed out of that event. However, that didn't mean they were out altogether. Hopefully since we showed success in our first time out, the comfort level will be there and they will want to join up with us.

I think I can safely say that our first time out was a great learning experience for all concerned. We also realized that we can do one of these events and NOT have to pay $1500. We have enough talent and experience amongst us to make this work and hopefully in the not to distance future people will be coming to us and paying us $1500 to host an event for them.

Ed Meadows is looking into the purchase of our own timing equipment.
