[SECC] SECC First Time Trials????

Hey everyone:

I received an email from Brian O'Neill the other day asking about something for CORSA. Since I now have his email I decided I would ask him about something about a possible track event a few of us SECC folks have been scouting out. Below you will see the email exchange.

Here are the details. There is a track just outside of Savannah Georgia called Roebling Road. The Ellison's and Donnie Bird told me about it and suggested we start looking at it. We could have our very fist time trials here. Donnie Bird is in the process of making contact with them to see what all the requirements are. Donnie is looking for a date in late March

My gut instinct is that our CORSA insurance which would cover a normal autocross, not a time trial would not cover us for this event. The NECC (North East Corvair Council) has been very instrumental in helping us get our feet on the ground has offered to help. If you look at Brian's email, he states that if we were to run this as a solo event one shot only the price of the insurance will double. However, if we simply add the date into the schedule that NECC has set for 2005, then the normal insurance rate would apply.

The NECC would love to help us and co-sponsor this event with us. I think this would be a great opportunity to work these folks and learn from them.

By having the date in late March I believe we will get a lot of the "big racers" there since they will be tired of winter, and the normal race season will not have begun. We also more then likely have a good turn out because the convention is so far out West this year attendance from the East will be minimal.

Just keeping you in the loop.

Sarah

Boy I;m glad you emailed. I was going to try and contact you about an event the SECC is trying to do.

We have found a track we are interested in doing some time trials at in late march of next year. depending on what they require for insurance, etc we may be asking the NECC if they were interested in helping us out.

Let me know your thoughts.

We would love to help. If you get insurance for only one event the cost will be double what we pay for one of many. We could simply add you guys to our yearly list of events. You would also probably have trouble getting the coverage. There are only a few agencies willing to underwrite high speed events. When K&K bailed on us a couple of years ago, we were only able to get insurance because we have good relations with the ops manager at Pocono.
