I received the following email from Donnie Bird and I thought it was an excellent question and thought it would be best to make sure everyone heard the answer.
So we are finally getting close enough to ask what are things I should bring??? I have a small canopy, chair and cooler I was planning on bringing.
Donnie
Yes by all means if you have canopies, please feel free to bring them. Everyone needs to plan on doing some corner work at sometime during the weekend so make sure you have a hat, sunscreen and of course you can hold an umbrella if you like. Yes, please bring lawn chairs as well.
FOOD:
South Florida Corvair Club has agreed to do the food vending for this event as a way to raise funds for their chapter. They will have breakfast type things each morning and then will have hamburgers and hot dogs as well. They may be offering cold cut sandwiches instead of the hamburgers and hot dogs on Saturday. They will also have cold drinks and water available. Their prices will be very conservative so we ask that you support them in their efforts. They will be under a covered pavilion and there are picnic tables in this area. Remember we will shut down from 12 - 1 each day for lunch and relaxation.
OBSERVATION:
There is no bad area to view this event from. There is also a two story observation tower that has glass and it screened all the way around. Please feel free to go up into the tower and video tape your favorite drivers runs through the courses. If you are alone and you want your run recorded I'm sure someone would be happy to record it for you.
PARKING:
There will be signs telling you where to park and where staging is on each day. The most important thing about the use of the facility is there is ZERO tolerance for anyone parking on the grass. This is a County facility and they love their grass. Not sure why since it isn't anything special. Gene Barr has arraigned for trailers to be allowed to park overnight Saturday in the facility which is locked and he will have the key. HOWEVER please see Gene as to where to park them. On Sunday we will use the road course and the parking lot for our runs so we need to make sure we are all on the same page so that a trailer isn't blocking the parts of the road course we are going to be using.
SATURDAY NIGHT ACTIVITIES
There is a great little restaurant called Soup to Nuts about 5 miles from the facility right on Rt 441. We plan to gather there and have dinner and a mini cruise in. The food is great and very reasonable. The restaurant is decorated form many different time periods. They have great, ice cream, malts, floats, burgers, home cooked dinners, etc. We will get you directions.
If anyone has any more questions, like I said send them to secc@corvair.org chances are someone has the same question and then we can all know.
Sarah
PS If you haven't mailed your registration in, please do so. We need to pay in advance for the use of the facilities.
