Hey everyone,
A quick message to let all of you know that we have secured a GREAT location
for the autocross to be held on Sunday November 7, 2004 in conjunction with
the Central Florida Corvair Affair. Also, Central Florida Corvairs has
purchased the latest and greatest timing equipment made and we will be using
that.
The autocross will be held at the First Coast Technical Institute which is
located about 8 - 10 miles from the host hotel. Although I personally have
not viewed the course, Ed Meadows did yesterday. When I called his house
last night to find out how it was his wife said, "Sarah, your Ed's new best
friend". Anyway, after speaking with Ed, he said the course is beautiful.
A long straightaway and several turns. He said the racers could easily get
into 3rd, but he may slow you down a tad. He has gone over the course
several times and decided a way he will run it on Sunday. He said there
will be minimal set - up involved.
We did try and get the track for Saturday afternoon, but the Corvette Club
has it rented. So, Saturday afternoon I say we all take a ride over and
watch the Corvettes. It will be open to the public.
I will get maps to everyone in the registration packet.
Also, one exit south on I 95 from the host hotel is the outlet malls. If
you get off that exit and take a right about 1/2 mile down on the rights is
a arcade game type place. They have go karts, mini golf, games, etc. They
will not rent out the track but they do have: they do have a special on
weekends from 8-11pm and the owners says it's usually not busy (bad for
them) It's $15.00 for unlimited go carts, mini golf, and 20 tokens. So, if
me want to organize a go kart outing for Saturday night, let me know.
So, bring your autocross cars and get ready!!!
