With all due respect, I think you guys are missing the point.  An issue
with V8 cars has always been cooling. Where to put the radiator, how to
shroud it, fans for pulling, etc. You have the opportunity to get 2-3000
square inches of cooling on the outside of your radiator pipes if the
radiator is forward. You can run these underneath as most do, where they
are exposed to the air. You wouldn't want to do anything to diminish the
cooling by rubber, something coating inside or out, or PVC. 

Regular mild steel lasts damn near forever.  Stainless is nice if you
can afford it.  Exterior coating retains heat-according to the
literature available. Powder coatings are great for looks and a good
compromise-heat wise.
