Yes - it will work, but like the Kelmark Mid-engine V8 design, you  would be 
running on the "wrong" side of the gears- and accepting some longevity  issues 
The real intent was to operate with the transaxle turned around, and  the 
input from forward in the car. Remember that this design is based on  the R&P 
used in the Monza GT, a Mid-engined Corvair-powered car. This  gearset enables 
the mid-engined Corvair powered car to run the engine in the  original direction 
of rotation. In that application, all parts are now turning  in their 
original designed direction. If you want to run a Kelmark Style  Mid-engine V8 or V6, 
You would have to reverse-rotate the V8. Then,  the engine would be going 
backwards, the transmission going backwards, but the  R&P going the designed (for 
this R&P) direction. -  Seth
