  Hi:

Eureka !!! The culprit was a BROKEN spark plug ! It was split in half
barely attached to the combustion chamber end :)

The brand? --- AC spark plug R44F !

  Regards,

  Tony I.

Subject: Backfire through the carb...

  Hi:

327 SBC on my V8 vair.
  Electronic ignition
  Headers

I have a brand-new Edelbrock 750 CFM installed recently. The car idles perfectly @ 950 RPM.
However, it backfires through the carb while driving.

Timing is set @ 8 degrees.

I've checked the firing order also. Distributor cap is new so are the plugs.

A friend told me that backfire through the carb is mainly due to a "lean mixture" !
  Is this true?

  Regards,

  Tony I.
