Craig, Thanks for the input. My experience parallels yours - both carbs ran too rich out of the box. Even the 600 is getting only about 10mpg, it smells rich and diesels when I turn it off hot. The "economy" tuned version of the 600 has the exact jet and metering rods you suggest. I think I will start there. Jim Acker
