I built the spherical joint set-up mentioned earlier in this thread and
added a little strengthening to the stock arms.  This is simple and very
effective.  I am running a Porsche 930 box with brackets to support the
lower control arms.  There is really no reason to move away from the stock
suspension.  The spherical joint addresses the stupid bushing and stabilizer
rod design, which is really the only short-cut GM put in the rear
suspension.  I will eventually move to coil over shocks and disc brakes, but
this is an good base that maintains the excellent handling qualities of a
