You are right that Ackerman angle is not an issue unique to a front steer
car; its just harder to fix in a front steer because of the location of the
steering arms.  As for adjusting Ackerman by moving the position of the
steering mechanism fore and aft, that may have an affect on other steering
behavior, but it won't change the Ackerman angle.  That angle is defined by
the relationship between the tie rod end attachment point on the sterring
arm, the lower ball joint and the wheel base of the vehicle.
