[V8Vairs] Getting a V8 car certified

Before anybody gets any more worked up about this, let me drop in an
observation/opinion. If "Gord" is the buyer of "Matt's old Crown" car, he may be
trying to get it licensed in a place where the Government cares about the
items mentioned. His E-mail address ends in ".ca" which might be Canada, eh?
That sign off checklist might be for a required govt inspection to allow
him to get plates at all. He is trying to placate the "certifying" shop, to
get it registered. Here in California, there are a few requirements for
licensing a "recovered" salvage car, but not quite the "opinion" happy maze
that Gord seems to have encountered. In the Eastern US, annual or bi-annual
inspections check all sorts of things. Europe is even more picky. Think of
it as a high-end tech inspection for the track. If Gord is the buyer and
just trying to get the car through to licensing, lets help with suggestions -
if we can - not criticism.

Though I don't condone the use of foul language on open forums I totally
agree with Steve W's sentiment. Gord sounds like your prospective buyer in
under the impression he's purchasing a certified pre-owned vehicle from
Auto-Nation. People like your perspective buyer as Steve stated are not right
for highly modified from stock automobiles such as is a mid-engine V8
Corvair. How badly do you need to sell the car? I suggest you walk away and
invoke the right to reserve refusal of the sale. I've been down this road, save
yourself the grief of having to sleep with the guy... ADE

shop being really sticky or what. Car drives straight, stops good, all glass
good, all lights work, horn works, all new wiring, new tires, etc. His list
of wants in order to certify are, new steering rack( I have one), all new
rubber bushings front and rear, engine has oil leaks( B.S. just did all
gaskets- its the steering pump that leaks) no defrost fan, wants new rear
brake hardware( brake shoes are fine), antifreeze leak (one small intermittent
drip) no neutral safety switch, leaking front wheel cal (good to know),
engine cover must be metal and did not like the seat belts. So much for Crown
originality. A lot of these issues I'm aware of and want to fix as I go
but for him to certify the car has to be pristine! I'm feeling a little
pissed! Anyone else running into this crap?
