Thanks Barry Ellison for pointing out the error of my ways... Hearing a noise from an adjacent sparkplug hole, on a Corvair, would NOT indicate a blown head gasket. I was thinking water cooled again and a completely different kind of block without removable cylinders... <<ggg>> Darn that antifreeze. Thanks Barry and sorry everyone. MC
