We're not talking about compression Ratios.......engines with camshafts with 
lots of "overlap / duration"  and 12 to 1  CR   may only show 50 psi at 
cranking speeds...150rpm.


and yes..by todays cars engines....we are in the lower  levels....many being 
10 to 1 now...


Diesels?...that's an "Otto- cycle"  engine...uses the compression to ignite 
the fuel...but YES  at 22 to 1 CR   it is high! ggg
