Someone said, "you seem to have all the bases covered; but don't overlook
anything!".

'79 Dodge 1 ton CarryVan [boxvan]......Engine ran fine but had no power to
pass, even in 2nd gear....otherwise all was normal

Driving at 70 mph, gas gauge at 1/4, engine would start sputtering; slow down
and all was well for 20 miles to gas
station........................................

Pull into station, shut off.......add fuel.........better FILL
it.....otherwise would not restart! Even after filling, took several seconds of
cranking....35 gal. tank...but never took more than 20 gal. to fill from 1/4????? didn't
seem wrong...gggg

Drove it 20k miles this way.....finally while in the Sierras at 9,000
ft......got vaporlock...5 hrs. to go 20 miles over pass....downhill run...just
fine.....2 more times during trip....so....

Time to FIX....

1 Found "original" inline filter...weighed 2 lb.!...replaced....line was
clear..

2 found fuel from tank came from "vapor return hose barb" at top of tank
side! 3/8" line was loose on the 1/4 barb! Original supplyline was capped!
This BARB did not extend into tank...let alone going to the bottom...

3 Found sending unit was installed 60deg. off to one side! Float was not
going up and down!...left to right!

All was well after!
