Hank-
The large red wire goes on the post (you knew that!) and you run a jumper 
from that post to the small tab farthest from the post. The other tab gets 
connected to the wire which is only "on" with the ign switch in the run 
position. To determine which wire that is: disconnect the wires at the old 
regulator and use a test lamp or meter to find the one that is "hot" only 
with the switch on. You can jumper that wire to one of the old ones that go 
to the old alternator plug or run a new wire from the firewall connector.
