I recently converted my 64 to the 3 wire alternator set up I bought from
Clark's.
I have 2 problems...I must take off my negative battery terminal when it sits
for more than 5 hours or the battery is dead. When I put a test light from
the terminal to the alternator housing, it lights up. A friend told me it is
probably the diode letting current flow backwards when stopped. Also, my
idiot
light doesn't work when I turn the key on. Clark's is sending me a free
replacement alternator and regulator to see if one or both is defective.
Anyone else
have this problem?
I was also wondering if anyone else had an EM with dealer installed AC with
the condenser mounted under the hood? thanks for the help.......Mark Kinnan

 I'll bet.....You've gota short / miswired... situation....

You say Terminal? and "remove Negative terminal"...so I assume you are going
from NEG [ bat] to Alt. housing?

If from the POS term. to housing...that's normal OK...

try unplugging the regulator....and see if the basttery stays up..
