Guys, Here's an update: I went to look at the car last night (the one that wouldn't shift). When in gear the wheels will rotate independently, with a variable roughness/grumbling feel. I am certain it is the diff. We intend to drop the drivetrain within two weeks (when we both have the time available). Thanks for the advice, Andy K.
