<VV> exhaust donut sealing question

My experience with my exhaust logs (similar description) is that NEW
graphite seals seem to seal up quite well. They came to me with an
instruction that the nuts that hold them should be retorqued to
specification after 5 hours' operation.
Scrape and scour your exhaust logs to try to smooth the sealing
surfaces as much as you can. If available, sandblasting would seem
particularly effective. I banged on mine a bit with a small chisel to remove
rust flakes, then sanded.

Subject: <VV> exhaust donut sealing question

I have some 140 exhaust logs that I'd like to use on my 110 engine, but the
areas where the donuts sit are pretty deeply pitted. It's not like the
whole area has eroded away, but I'm wondering how well the donuts will crush
into those pits and provide a seal. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
