I agree on the cardboard. Wonderful invention. I was cited for having a
"junk car" on my property--body work was done, but I was waiting for the paint
shop. No suspension on car and it was on jack stands. I had to have the car
out by a certain day and it had snowed over a foot (January). 10 to 15 degrees
at night. No sympathy from the county inspector because the local real estate
agent was selling a house on my block and called him daily. $350.00 a day
fine. Had to work late so I didn't get to the car until almost midnight on the
last night. I shovelled snow from around car, placed big double sheets of
cardboard under it and spent all night bolting on the new front and rear
suspensions (already dipped, blasted, painted and rebuilt) and installing the parking
brake. I went through two heavy duty drop light bulbs and four regular bulbs
that died because of the cold and abuse. I'll never forget how heavy the
front suspension got as I tried to start the first bolt. I got everything done by
7:30 the next morning when the inspector showed up--the tow truck was late.
He waited until the car was on the truck and told me Corvair people were
"extraordinary". Couldn't have done it without that insulating, cushioning, smooth
cardboard. I folded it up with the trash still on it and threw it away with
a twinge of guilt. Took a shower and went to work where I wasn't worth a damn
all day. (Yes, I usually am worth a damn at work).

And cardboard works on grass, gravel and dirt.
When you are done just pull the cardboard out with all of the tools parts,
dirt and oil on it.
