One of my oldest clients, in time and age, surprised me on Christmas day. I
take her holiday lunchs, so she can share. She had given her helper the day
off, and turned out she was down in her back, and could not even get out of
bed, so she had not eaten all day, so the meal was very welcome. I tended to
the dog, checked the cats, and came back in to chat a bit, and head back so I
could eat my turkey. She was fumbling around in her business papers and pulled
out her checkbook. She pulled a check out, and said she wanted to put it in a
card, but didn't have the energy to find any and just handed it to me. Now she
usually tips me $100 to $150 every Christmas, this was for $2000 !!! Yikes. I
told her I couldn't take that, and tried to hand it back, and she said she was
not going to live that much longer, and if she want to give her money away,
that was her business, and would be insulted if I refused it. So, I took it.
She is a millionaire, but couldn't tell by looking at her. So the vendor books
are out, and you guys get ready, parts orders will be coming soon, and Grant,
carbs will be on the way soon! HEHE, this is fun, but I know to be careful,
Even $2000 won't last long on 2 corvairs. Had to share. BRUCE
