There are many different tools used to clean the flash from cylinder heads.
Each person has their favorite tools. For passages that are completely
blocked off I found that small drills worked the best and where do you find
drills long enough? Some but not many hardware stores carry what is called
jobbers length drills. The ones that I found are at least eight inches long. To
find a good variety of lengths and sizes go to an industrial tool supply
store such as Granger.

Another good tool is the hacksaw blade. Two other hacksaw blade types are
the round wire types, one with a spiral cut tooth cut on the wire and the
other is the one with silicon carbide brazed on the wire. Usually one can not
get the blade ends through the cooling air slots or holes so this requires
cutting the end attachment off so the wire can go through the air passage. Then
grip the end with a small pair of vise grips and stick a nail through the
other end so the wire can be pulled back and forth with ease.
