Subject: Lack of power/lack of memory

Group,

After switching 140 to 110 heads and carefully tuning my 67 cpe. I drove it
for 2 or 3 miles for a checking, all was OK. Today, I drove it gently for
about 20 minutes then, decided to rev it up (in 2nd) but, at 4,000 rpm the
engine lost power. I continue driving but the engine seems like working on 3
cylinders power but smoothly. It idles fine, both banks sound smooth.
I suspected the Pertronix II ignition could failed so, replaced it and coil
with the spare points+standard coil. Nothing happen. Weights at distributor
look fine and free moving. Timing light shows pulley mark advancing as usual
with rpm increases. Both carbs are clean inside and out, with new 0.052" jets
and their throttle pumps are Ok.
After 36 years driving and dealing with vairs I have never had this
problem.

Before sending this message I went to the car for a final search and, guess
what I found....
The linkage betwwen the right carburetor and the cross shaft was
dissconected because I forgot to install the stuff to secure it. This way, the
engine idled fine but only the left carb worked at accelerating.
Now I'll go checking all my tools and if one is missing it would probably
is laying inside the engine... or diff... or transmission.

So, my friends, stop becoming old.

   Daniel
