Smitty says:  Many years ago that subject was discussed in the Old Cars
Weekly.  The generally agreed upon conclusion was that when auto makers
and vendors were making trim pieces that required no particular strength
that they literally used floor sweepings from the machine shops.  Threw
everything in the pot and melted it down for castings.  I'm sure the mix
is much more controled now.
