One of our guys painted his carbs with model airplane paints! Worked good
he said because of it's formulation designed to resist the effects of the
fuels they use....never tried it myself but I might have Grant powdercoat my
carbs Mermaid purple!! If you want to know what color that is, take a look
at the interior of my car at the convention!! You can't miss it!!

Eastwood sells at least two colors of carburetor paint. www.eastwoodco.com
Subject to what the directions for the paint say, I'd say any paint on the
carb at present should be removed (don't think carburetors WERE painted when
new). Again, as to how to remove paint, one main thing: DON'T soak the
pieces in solvent for long periods, as this can make them (more) porous.
Carburetor cleaner itself is pretty good at removing paint; I've never seen
any paint survive it on a carburetor.

Hi all,

Well another surprise from under hood of the 64 Turbo...YH carb is now
leaking gas...Issue seems to be two fold, one the carb is leaking around
the top carburater fuel filter nut. Second is that when idling at a
light engine will, at times, start to lose rpms and will miss when
taking off from the light, sounding like it's flooded. Can often smell
gas too when this occurs..Usually clears quickly and runs fine until the
next light..sounds like a intermittantly sticking float, or am I way off
base....?

Ok time to rebuild however I would like to REpaint it at the same time.
Recommendations for painting, IE type of paint and should I try to
remove the old paint b/4 painting??

Can one powder coat a carb and how would one do that if possible??

Thanks,

Kerry
