<VV> Fitting Door Weatherstrip

Slowly but surely I'm getting my '65 Monza back together. This weekend I
attempted to install a new driver's side door weatherstrip purchased from one
of our favorite vendors. Starting at the latch side, I quickly realized that
I had to stretch the rubber in order to get the nylon pin mounted in each
successive hole. By the time I had pushed in 3-4 pins, the weatherstrip was
nearly two inches too short without being stretched. Before I lodge a
complaint with the vendor, is a requirement to physically stretch the
weatherstrip this much during installation normal? I also had a heck of time
getting the nylon pins to seat in the door holes. Any tricks with this
procedure?
Recommendations would be welcomed!
