First Corvair my family owned was a new '62 700 wagon. I was 11 when dad
got it in the fall of '61, and he factory-ordered it with front AND rear
belts, just so they could tie down my brother and I. LOL Seriously,
belts were optional as early as '62, and J.R. is correct on the
mandatory dates. Note that that was only the two front and/or two rear
places. Center belts weren't standard until '68. My '67 4door has the
rear center belt option.
