Norm

The problem lies in the Vendors.

What you would have to do to get your parts across the border and back would be an absolute nightmare, even in the days before 9/11.

I used to walk across the Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls USA to Niagara Falls Canada---costs 50 cents, free parking on the American side at the Casino, and no 2 hour wait in your car to cross the border.

NOW, in the wake of 9/11, the US/Canada Border crossings in NY (Lewiston, Rainbow and Peace Bridge) along the Niagara River are considered prime places for terrorists to infiltrate into the country, to say NOTHING of the damage to interstate and international commerce if one of the border bridges are blown up by Aachmed and his friends. You must now carry your birth certificate to keep the Customs folks from detaining you for hours. Used to be a drivers license was enough.

While sitting along the river for 2 hours a couple of weeks ago, where once in a while you used to see a Sheriffs boat cruise by, I saw

The Grand Island River Patrol
Erie County Sheriff Patrol
NYS Police River Patrol
US Border Patrol
NYS Conservation Patrol (Game Warden)
US Coast Guard Patrol.
OPP (Ontario Provincial Police)
RCMP River Patrol

If you are on a Boat or a Wave Runner, and are out on the water for more than an hour, YOU WILL Be boarded and searched by one or more of these agencies---They are NOT playing games or taking chances.

Having a Convention In Canada, you can just about forget it.

Regards
HANK
