<VV> Heater Box

Moving along with another step in the restoration project, I have refurbished
the heater box in the 66 Corsa. I had to get a chunk of plastic and machine
new bushings for the damper doors to aluminum housing, but now I can put the
assembly back together and move on. Or so I thought.

DQOTD (Dumb Question Of The Day)

There are two dampers inside the box. One is large, horizontal, just under the
blower squirrel cage. Looks like it adjusts from full hot air to full cool
from the top shroud. The other damper is smaller, vertical and damps the cool
shroud air. They are connected with an adjustable metal linkage. The way I see
it, I adjust it so the cool air damper is closed when the other is set to warm
air. However, if I move the warm air damper all the way over to the cool side,
the smaller one goes past full open to closed on the other side, choking off
the cool air flow. At half way, the small one is open fully to get a mix of
air.

Does this sound like the way it is supposed to work?

I can't see anything in the assembly manual. I can't see a reason for the
small damper at all if the large one is controlling hot/cold, but I am sure
there is a reason for it if the factory put it in there.

Thanks for all the help?
