This HAS been done, to very good effect, I feel, by Bob Helt in "Classic
Corvair," which you can order directly from him by e-mail. While his
drawings are not in multiple colors like SOME automotive wiring diagrams I
have seen, still they are not only substantially easier to read than the
originals, but they fill in the details of "black boxes" that GM left
undocumented in its drawings. Finally, his drawings cover all years in one
volume.
     "Barbaric" is the perfect word for GM's original offering. Fortunately,
I feel it does NOT pertain to most of the rest of GM's effort to document
the maintenance and repair of Corvairs.

The way GM shows wiring as a pictorial is barbaric by todays standards. It's
almost impossible to follow all those parralel lines, and be accurate.
Today, it's done schematically, and a LOT easier to read. Someone needs to
convert the 60's era drawings into schematic form.
