Reed valves also break, as well as jam partly open ... they act as a "1-way
" valve on the output... if 1 or more are broken, the piston pushes air out
( you feel it ) but it also sucks it right back down when the piston goes
down.  If you have reed valves on the intake, they act the opposite.

Granger has a good selection of repair kits for a lot of small compressors,
also, there is a * Parts Company * that has parts for a lot of misc
machines.  These are usually easy to install yourself.
