If all you do is drive in a straight line, get a big honking engine.  
You can fit one in just about anything.  If you drive on roads that 
have turns, get a car that is balanced and handles well.  I prefer the 
enjoyment of a car that is a good combination of both, but weighted to 
the handling aspects.  My choice is the Corvair late model 140's and 
180's and the new RX-8.
