I've got a 34' fleetwood bounder RV powered by Chevy 454 with a tranny
problem, a turbo 400, I think.

Coming back from Helen GA, it starting shifting later than usual, higher rpm
than normal. Check the fluid, and it was a bit low, and by just a bit. I
put a little too much in, total less than 1/2 a quart, but it didn't seem to
help much. Removed the modulator valve last night, and it doesn't seem to
move until I get about 16 units (not sure of units as I'm sure to be flamed
- want to say psi) of vacuum. Seems high, but that's what I'm sure someone
on this list can confirm.

Replace modulator? And if that doesn't work, take to mechanic? Not worth
doing it myself.

Or is it just a vacuum leak?

Modulator held for an hour or more at 20+. If it were leaking, I would
expect it to "hunt" gears.
