Since we are all sharing our stories, let me tell you mine.

Trying to plastigage all six rod bearings with the crank in the car can be a 
"female dog". Try to avoid that if at all possible, by doing this plastigaging 
with the crank out of the engine before you start engine assembly. Sure 
things can slip while doing this, requiring a repeat to get a good reading, but it 
is still orders of magnitude easier than doing it with the crank installed.
