The rear reservoir supplies the front brakes. You probably have a pin
hole leak in the line ( unfortunately ) above the gas tank causing a slow
seepage. The non returning brake pedal is indicative of a sludge filled
master cylinder bore and, or weak internal return spring. Most all cars
we have done lately that have sat for a period of time, we recommend that
a complete brake system overhaul is in the best interest of the car and
driver. Even with a dual system, a partial failure will not stop quick
enough in a panic stop where most abrupt failures occur. Fill the
reservoir and blead the front brakes being careful not to snap off the
bleader screws. If the system will bleed out, do a few hard pedal applies
and that will show up your leak area or blow out another potential weak
line.
