<VV> valve covers

The correct answer of course, is they weren't painted, they were coated. I can remember seeing these engines on the line at Chevrolet during open house when I was a kid. 

In addition,I have several valve covers in my parts stash that were taken off EM engines that one can see there has NEVER been any paint on them, and only minor suface rust.

With the advent of powder coating, I now have a set of red covers on the EUM Engine. I doubt that this has any measured effect on cooling
