<VV> VV 4 Door Seals (Lates)

I'm applying an economist's "prejudices" (even though I'm not an economist)
to this situation.
Aftermarket replacement parts of this nature are designed to LOOK
good - they're appearance items in a collector car (no matter if you drive
yours frequently - the MARKET, I believe, is for APPEARANCE). While cost
continues to matter, just as much as always, function matters less and
appearance more, in this latter-day market for certain parts for our cars.
The function these perform is comparatively subtle, and hardly at issue in a
real trailer queen (whose budgets indeed command huge parts of the markets
that we now are shopping in).
So, I say you're right, Alan - watch out for those good-looking, fresh
door seals. Relative to the originals, they're probably designed more for
appearance (and economy), and less for function, which is difficult to
design for in the first place, and expensive to manufacture for, in the
second.
As I've already admitted, I made all this up - I don't know any of it
for a fact. And there's economics for you - no science at all, no matter how
scientific you manage to get about it.

This is interesting - the ones on my car look horrible and cracked and
brittle, and have little chunks missing in places, but they don't leak or
whistle at all.

I was intending to buy new ones, but perhaps I am better sticking with these
ones?

Cheers
