Those drivers don't buy them for safety, at least not YOUR safety, just to
survive whatever havoc they raise while wandering around this country's
roadways without a care in the world !

Why should they care - they are safe in their tanks - it's why they buy them
for their wives and girlfriends - so they'll survive their own bad driving.

Another View:
Many people buy larger vehicles for towing or carrying capacity. My
Avalanche was purchased - and is being used for - towing a car-carrying trailer. The
days of doing that with a car are long gone. A Truck or large SUV is
necessary for that activity. I have also used it to carry large amounts of Corvair
parts to (and from!) swap meets, etc. It is certainly safer (for everyone)
than towing a trailer behind one of todays mid-size cars! It will make another
trip to Palm Springs in November. The Avalanche was purchased in December 2002
and only just turned over 20,000 miles. I do not commute in it. It is truly
a Utility Vehicle for me. -Seth Emerson
