into the EM bezel and use the EM front plate and knobs?

The bezel on the early radio has no provision to accept the bandswitch.
The knobs and buttons would work between radios but the early
bezel/escutcheon won't go on the late AM/FM radio.

Now: There were several different models of Delco AM/FM radios fitted to
Olds, Buick, Caddy etc in the '60s and early '70s which are practically a
bolt-in for an early Vair. You might wanna shop old junkyards which may
have a building stocked with older auto radios, or cruise Ebay.

You might find a deal. I've turned up several Delco AM/FMs that fit
earlies, no problem. Then again, I did spend some time looking and I was
a bit educated on what to look for.

It's worth mentioning that the majority of the Delco AM/FM radios
manufactured through the '60s were all a "corporate" GM/Delco chassis in
that if you removed the escutcheon/bezel they all looked pretty much alike.
The only major differences worth mentioning were the location of the
output transistor heat sink and the multiplex plug on the bottom of some
variants capable of accepting the outboard multiplex adaptor. Some heat
sinks will be located on the sides of some radios in a position that
interferes with the early radio housing... no problem, the heat sink can
be relocated to the rear of the radio via existing mounting holes in the
chassis although you may have to reroute the three wires to the transistor
on the heat sink. You will also have to note control shaft length on some
radios, depending on application etc. Shaft length would vary depending
on knob configuration.

In short, some '60s vintage Delco AM/FM radios are a straight bolt-in for
an early Vair, while some would require some modifications like heat sink
location or present control shaft/knob issues.
