Hi All:

As I write this the eye of Hurricane Jeanne is above
us. The computer is running on generator power, we
have had a small fire when a neighbor's tree fell on
our power line and shorted a phase to ground. Lost at
least one TV, maybe a computer, but heck, you don't
care about this....what about the Corvair?

Just checked. She's doin just fine. her cover is
soaked, but the theory that Corvairs are aerodynamic
is absolutely true. We had a recorded gust of 68 mph,
which is what she'll do on the highway any day.
Luckily nothing sailed on the wind and did any damage,
at least not yet. In two days she'll be all dried out,
a necessity because keeping her bundled up promotes
mold.

We'll probably be without power for a couple of days.
We have 4 gallons of gas which is enough for 8 hours.
Hopefully a gas station will open Monday so we can
resupply. Luckily the gen will also run the
refrigerator, but not much else.

What's it like in the eye?
Nice.
Wind is calm. Just a few spits of rain. sky is cloudy
because the eye is occluded. Sometimes inside the eye
you can actually see sunshine, not this time. No
flooding to speak of, but the city crews have been out
cleaning the storm drains.

That's about it. No weekend cruise in for the third
weekend, no cookout, just another weekend in paradise.
