Smitty says: I made my own bead breaker 20 years ago and still use it
often, I was going to order one from JCW but I had some raw material and
a brand new Sears buzz box, so I copied JCs. I use buggy seat springs
for tire irons which do quite well. When they are mounted I have an old
front spindle with a drum mounted on it that has a fitting I can clamp in
my vise for balancing. I cleaned the grease from the bearings and use
light oil on them. They are set up loosely or at least have no preload
on them. By letting the drum roll to heavy side down I found that it was
3/4 oz out of balance so I took care of that. It will bring tire/wheel
balance in to 1/4 oz. Only problem is I can't tell if the weight is
needed inside or outside, so I split the difference. I have never needed
a dynamic balance since then.
I noticed the spell check spellings of Smitty probably before
anyone else did. I kind of like the spell check correction of "Saintly".
   It fits so well
