<VV> MORE HELP NEEDED see #2: (was: RE: Nevermind....RE: [FC] Charlie Dye)

Was only able to leave a message for Charlie, don't know if I'll hear back
from him. Somehow I mis-dailed the number for Charlie I dug up in my
handy-dandy CORSA roster. And when I found the same number listed in the
Communique in the Parts & Repair Specialist section I tried it again, and
got his machine. Anybody know why Southwest Corvair salvage isn't listed in
the Communique?

Thanks to the list and the resources CORSA organizes I have been able to
follow several good leads.

#1) David Herrin at The Source (as seen in his post) suggested Hellwig
"Helper Springs". Quick search on the net turned up Hellwig, and a call to
them revealed (the tech guy had to go as the Boss about this one) that they
don't make the spring any longer, nor do they have any in inventory. It was
a long shot but it couldn't hurt to try. Dave also volunteered to search
the catacombs for a repro version of the Hellwigs.

#2) Better yet was an email from a list member stating that he has what he
believes to be a set of coil springs intended for a Camper install. His
measurements put them at 10.25" tall, six turns with 3/4"dia wire. Does
anybody have a set they could measure for me? I would think the wire
diameter will be the giveaway here.

#3) Besides the previously mentioned, I also tried Clarks, lclc (he still
has the sliding rear windows for a RS, yaaaayyy!), The Corvair Ranch, Rafee,
CU and California Corvair. All very helpful, and I'm still waiting to hear
back from a few of them, although option #2 looks promising if I can verify
that these springs are the ones I need.

I'll be driving from AZ to Cali and then up I-5 all the way to Canuckle land
the weekend of May 7th/8th, keep an eye out for us<G>.

Regards,
Joel

So, What is the number?

Did you try Lon? One of his catalogs had a rampside with camper pictured.
He might have a clue on the springs.

Attachments (if any) are scanned with anti-virus software.
