In his message, Charles alluded to the fact that the Corvair is understated
and the Vette is overstated. That is one of the things that make it so much
fun. Someone in another post mentioned his episode with the Mustang GT on
the back roads. I am willing to bet we all have stories like his. Mine
goes like this. I had a 64 Monza 95hp/4sp, nothing fancy about it at all,
but it would get up and go from light to light. Some kid in a 64/65 Pontiac
Tempest with a 326 Auto pulled up beside me at a light. Well, I dusted him.
At the second light I could tell he was power-braking the shiftless tranny.
So, I dusted him a second time. At the third light, his girl friend was
laughing so hard she almost fell out of the car. This time, he puts it in
neutral, gets it up to around 2K and slams it in gear when the light
changes. He burns rubber, but I still leave him sitting. Finally, at about
45-50 MPH he passes me with a smug look on his face. Oh well, if only it
had been a 140.

Anyhow, Charles, I love Corvairs no matter what I drive from day to day, and
if I ever get the rest of my parts, I will be driving my 66/140 just about
everyday as well.

Cheers,
