I'll add that the stock fan is deficient, according to Chevy engineers 
who accepted as a design limitation of the stock turbo cars that they 
could not be cooled with the existing fan.  I would think their opinion 
carries some weight.

I think Other manufacturers have had cooling issues too, even with the benefit of water cooling .
Chrysler Turbos of the late 80s erly 90s cut back their boost after a few seconds.  Good for acceleration, and  not necessary for cruising at 100 mph.  Kind of like Nitrous.
My buddy drove his dad's 1962 T-bird back from NY in 2nd gear and it got HOT !
Owners of big engined Pontiacs ( GTOs , Firebirds and Grand AMs) could count on their temp gages climbing into the red during top speed runs to the beach
