Hey Hanky-poo,
That should be "C0..." as in "see zero" not "see oh"... and judging from the 
part number they've been using it since 1960... C = decade and the number = 
the year of the decade... Ford came up with that number system in the 1940s, 
starting with "A"... so A9XXX... would be from 1949... "C4" = 1964 and so on...
I know you already know that from your years at the dealer, but using the 
letter in place of the number drives me batty!
