<VV> Simple Clutch Adjustment?

Rick,

I won't go into long detail, but the first thing to assure yourself is
that the cable is sound. If it is starting to break (it gets longer),
the clutch pedal takes a trip toward the floor. The usual stress point
is where it goes over the pulley under the dash.

If this looks good to you the next place is still in front, but under
the front rug and covered with a sheet metal shield near the heater
duct. You saw this when you put the new rug in. If all this looks good,
the adjustment is in order. Safely put it on jack stands and assure it
won't fall on you. The swivel in the rear can just be tightened up a
little to see if this suits your taste in clutch travel.

I'm sure someone else will give you more particulars. The book may seem
complicated, but once you get underneath and see the threaded swivel, it
should be self evident. Just be sure you have new cotter pin to install
and don't drop any washers. If you have Clarks catalog, it's page 114
item number 24. Sometimes stuck/rusty. Safety first!!!!!!!!!

Getting all the information is most of the solution.

Subject: <VV> Simple Clutch Adjustment?

I've finally got the '65 Monza coupe in sound enough condition to be
consider road-worthy. Having installed new floor mats (carpeted), I
noticed that the clutch pedal has to be depressed a bit harder to
provide the type of gear shifting (4 speed) that I've come to expect.
I've read the shop manual on clutch adjustment and it sounds awfully
complicated for what I want to do. I'd like to have the clutch pedal
release with a little more distance between the pedal and the floor.
Can someone provide a very simple explanation (for the mechanically
challenged amateur) on how I might make this adjustment. I have the car
on jack stands and I'd like to have everything underneath taken care of
before the unveiling of this 3-year project in early Sep.

I'll appreciate any advice on the clutch question.
