I'll skip the politically-inspired humor this post offers... but seriously even the French have changed. Since the mid-90's, not only are yellow lights NOT 
required, it's now illegal in France to fit yellow headlamps to cars not originally equipped with them.

These lights are also illegal (strictly speaking) in most of the US, but this isn't enforced at all (that I know of).
