Friends;

DISCLAIMER!!!!

This message IS NOT IN ANY WAY intended to start the "I got my Communique" Thread. If indeed there are replies that are not pertaining to the actual meaning of the message, I will disavow any responsibility for making this post.

After doing the old "kivver to kivver" reading of the September Communique, I wanted to thank all the people who wrote articles, took pictures, and thanks to Harry and Mike for what I feel is the best coverage of a convention in the 17 years I have read the magazine.

This issue did a great job of allowing those of us who were not able to be there to see just about all of what went on, without spending too much time on any one subject.
That's Fair and Balanced coverage of an event if I have ever seen it.

Two things came to my attention as worth noting.

1. No minutes from the BoD meeting. Perhaps space did not allow with all the pictures from the events, which I preferred to see now, and not 2 months from now. I know I am not alone in actually reading the minutes of BoD meetings, and they are not published for the sole reason that the by-laws probably state that they be published.
Here I might also add that bylaw changes were published on the very last page of the CORSA Calendar, along with.....

2. The announcement of a Dues Increase. I am by no means accusing Harry and/or Mike for putting this small paragraph regarding the dues "change" (I guess PC language for increase) as the absolute last piece of CORSA news in the magazine before the classifieds, but in one way I couldn't blame them if they did it on purpose.

For those of you who weren't around the last time the dues were increased...
IFO never expected the cryin', complainin',and biblical wailing and gnashing of teeth that accompanied the last dues increase, which If I'm correct (and may not be) was in the late 90's.
   Added to that was the fact that in those days CORSA was experiencing some severe financial straights made no difference to the "lightly frugal" among us. They flat out didn't want to pay it. The subject was debated to some length (what isn't) in this forum, and I wouldn't be surprised if the discussion chased away 100 potential CORSA members in the process.

  What I would like to see is some kind of article from the
CORSA Treasurer or Harry explaining the why's and wherefores of the dues increase. I don't want to tell Harry his business, he doesn't tell me about mine. But somehow methinks an article on it in the front of the magazine would have been preferrable to the negative feedback I fear will be coming from a short blurb in the last column of one of the last pages.

Hank
